15 November, 2011

A partnership meeting was held in September to explore ways of developing the International PfS programme. Delegates from Belgium, The Netherlands and UK shared updates on progress of their project as well as exploring ways of working together to secure sponsorship and funding. Bolton Wanderers hosted a very successful visit and shared their approaches to sustainability. Thank you to Neil and Janet for making us all so welcome.

Belgium

There are currently two projects underway, one at Ghent Football Club and the second in Ghent Giants, a basketball club. Another four are planned and discussions are underway with other clubs. National Lottery Funding has been secured to support the development.

Netherlands

10 centres are currently open with a further 26 planned. A new, national foundation has been agreed to develop a sustainable model of PfS. Some National Lottery funding has been secured for three years.

Outcomes of the meeting

A plan to explore joint sponsorship and funding. A list of potential sponsors has been drawn up and an approach agreed.

RHCIC to continue to arrange and host visits for International partners. Fees to be agreed to cover centre expenses for future visits.

Proposed date of next visit by a group from Netherlands: 27 to 29 November 2011. The particular focus of this visit is to share experience of working with young people aged 15 23 or NEET groups. While venues for this visit have been agreed, please contact Rex Hall Office to express interest in hosting future visits and the particular good practice you would wish to share.
